Went down the mine, really good and exciting to hear the history. Men working there were very Pleasant and kind made you feel very welcome. We went on a windy rainy day so couldn't go out on the play area but that looked really exciting so we'll be going back on a dry and warm day all in all a good day out.

An absolutely brilliant, five star day out. I took my two grandsons age 8 and 13 and they loved it. All of the staff we encountered were first class - helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The tour of the pit, 140 metres underground, is fascinating and superbly organised to guide you through working life down the pit through the decades from the time when young children were working down there to the age of multi-million pound boring machines. Our underground guide was superb, going out of his way to ensure we had a great time. There are lots of other things to see and do including pit ponies, a play park, a museum and more. Even the cafe where we had lunch is excellent. All great value too. For a day out, I can't recommend this place highly enough.

The place is a treasure, I took my granddaughter and had a great time. The mine shaft is the same height as Blackpool tower! To take the mine tour you go through the same procedure as the miners would have done, no contraband. Then an experienced miner takes you underground, with all the same banter and humour (without the bad language) that was the daily experience for them. I and my granddaughter loved it. I'd go again, tomorrow.

A cool place to go to. The new playground is very good. Also, last time I went there, I discovered some new outdoor sections that are not well advertised such as the ponies and horses, and the visit of the former miner's showers... Not to mention the actual visit of the museum and the underground tour which is a bargain for £3. Well worth the visit.

Great restaurant , underground tour well worth doing for a small donation, they even do wheelchair tours at quiet times. Tour guides are ex miner's with a huge amount of information.
